Keauhou – Playground of the Ali'i

Looking for one of the finest climates in Hawaii? Look no further. Keauhou — from the ocean to the mountains — has what I would consider the best climate in all Hawaii. It is a place of historical significance and was once the playground of Hawaiian Royalty. It gets gentle breezes, no heavy winds, and is protected from the big storms by the mass of the surrounding mountains. The area contains some beautiful gated luxury communities, condos near or on the ocean, oceanfront hotels... and also has mountain coffee and tropical fruit farms. Great shopping and movie theaters are at it’s center.

Within the Keauhou area you can find a variety of climates, from warm to cool and everything in between. It is such a gentle place in all ways: climate, people and lifestyle.

It also has the spectacular snorkeling beach at Kahalu’u, in my view the best snorkeling on the island. Keauhou Bay provides access for boaters and has great deep water fishing just offshore! Winter time brings humpback whales splashing within sight in the blue waters off the sunny side of the Big Island.

You’ll enjoy the two great 18-hole golf courses that are out of the strong trade winds. Tennis courts abound. Ocean views are some of the prettiest in Hawaii.
