~ No permits were obtained, so be sure to check on the implications of that and you will need to install solar power, a composting toilet or septic system and a water system. Very inexpensive solutions are available.
~ Reception for cell phones is good and internet fast.
~ Nearest town is Pahoa, 20 minutes away, with a new shopping center, restaurants, health food store and just about everything you need. Hilo is about 45 minutes away with the big box stores.
~ Uncle Robert's Old Hawaii and Kaimu Store are just a few miles away for small items, prepared food and great entertainment. Plus a farmer's market on Saturdays.
~ The neighbors all look out for each other's property on the lava. It's a very safe place!
~ This area is known for lots of sunshine and wind. There are hardly any bugs and the breeze is refreshing.
~ There is a very nice black sand beach about 5 miles away; Kehena Beach is world renown for it's friendly dolphins!
~ The scenic Red Road will take you to Pohoiki and the new black sand beach there with hot ponds, it's about 10 miles from home.
~ House is built up 4 feet to allow plenty of storage underneath.
~ The stairs are attached with screws, so it will be easy to move them and add a deck.
~ Like to look at the stars? Clear skies, no trees or light pollution make this an astronomer's dream at night!
This property is not for everyone, but for something simple, different and affordable, this is the place!
